GSE introduces Extended Life Program to maximize ink dispensing ROI

The new lifecycle initiative focuses on refurbishment, upgrades and maintenance to extend equipment life and support sustainability goals.

GSE has introduced its Extended Life Program, a lifecycle support initiative designed to help label and packaging converters extend the lifespan and performance of their ink dispensing systems. The program brings together refurbishment, retrofit upgrades and preventative maintenance into a structured offering aimed at improving operational efficiency while reducing environmental impact.

Developed for flexo, gravure and screen applications, the program enables converters to adapt existing equipment to evolving production and sustainability requirements rather than replacing systems outright. Services include recalibration, software updates, energy-efficiency improvements and ink changeover support, allowing dispensing systems to evolve alongside shifts in ink chemistries, workflows and regulatory demands.

GSE says the initiative reflects growing industry pressure around sustainability targets, cost control and supply chain uncertainty. By extending equipment lifecycles, converters can reduce material consumption, lower CO₂ impact and maintain operational resilience. The program builds on GSE’s modular engineering approach, which allows systems to be upgraded over time, with many installations remaining in operation for more than 20 years.

Maarten Hummelen, marketing director, GSE Dispensing, comments, “Converters are under pressure from many directions – sustainability targets, cost control, shorter lead times and supply chain volatility that affects availability of critical resources. The Extended Life Program is about helping customers protect and improve the value of the equipment they already have, while reducing environmental impact and maintaining high operational performance.”

As part of its broader circularity strategy, GSE is also advancing a “Next Life” concept, focused on refurbishing and redeploying existing systems. The Extended Life Program will be highlighted at the Day of Remanufacturing event in the Netherlands on June 18, where the company will showcase its approach to lifecycle optimization in ink logistics.
